Stuck's competition career spanned some 39 years -from 1924 to 1963 - during which he took part in more than 700 events. Most of his success was gained in hill-climbs, of which he became the undisputed master during the 1920s in his Austro-Daimlers, and he remained dominant in the early 1930s with a Mercedes SSK sports, by which time he was also winning on the circuits, taking the 1931 Rio de Janeiro GP. In 1934 Stuck joined the Auto Union team to win the German, Swiss and Czech GPs, adding the Italian GP to his tally in 1935, as well as an unending run of hill-climb successes.
After the war, Stuck got back into action with a little 1100 cc Cisitalia, before racing the AFM Formula 2 car, which was fast but fragile. He took a third place in the 1950 Solitude GP, and won a minor race at Grenzlandring in 1951, but on the hills, of course, he was still a regular winner. By the end of the 1952 season the AFM was totally outclassed, and he briefly raced an Ecurie Espadon Ferrari, taking fifth at AVUS, and ninth at Modena.
Stuck later joined BMW and raced their cars successfully until the early 1960s.
