Hill-climber and Porsche sports car exponent of no great pedigree. Stuppacher missed his big chance to compete in a Grand Prix when at Monza he left the circuit having failed to qualify. However, front-runners Hunt, Mass and Watson had their times disallowed due to fuel irregularities which would have allowed the Austrian into the race. The luckless Otto was back already in Vienna and unable to return in time to take up a place on the grid which was gratefully taken by World Champion to be James Hunt.
